Frank: Sag mal ⍟, hast du die Anzeige gesehen? Unser ICE hat jetzt schon wieder zwanzig Minuten Verspätung. Und wir stehen noch nicht mal auf dem Bahnsteig. Typisch Deutsche Bahn, oder? Ich hab extra früher Feierabend gemacht, damit wir entspannt losfahren, und jetzt das. Irgendwie passiert das jedes Mal, wenn wir nach Berlin fahren.
Anne: Ja, hab ich gesehen. Ganz ehrlich ⍟, ich hab fast damit gerechnet. Ohne Verspätung wäre es ja schon fast unheimlich. Wenigstens steht da diesmal ein Grund: „Verzögerung im Betriebsablauf“. Klingt wichtig, heißt aber wahrscheinlich einfach Chaos. Hoffentlich kriegen wir wenigstens einen Sitzplatz.
Frank: Wenn nicht, dann stehen wir halt im Gang. Ist ja auch schon fast Tradition. Hauptsache, wir kommen heute überhaupt an ⍟. Ich hab echt keine Lust, um Mitternacht noch irgendwo in Wolfsburg festzusitzen und auf den Anschluss zu warten.
Anne: Ach komm, so schlimm wird’s schon nicht. Und wenn doch, holen wir uns einen Kaffee im Bordbistro und machen das Beste draus ⍟. Aufregen bringt ja eh nichts ⍟. Außerdem: In Berlin wartet wenigstens ein freies Wochenende auf uns.
Frank: Stimmt auch wieder. Und ehrlich gesagt hab ich mittlerweile eine gewisse Gelassenheit entwickelt. Früher hätte mich das total genervt, heute denk ich mir nur: okay, läuft. Vielleicht sollten wir die Zeit nutzen und schon mal planen, was wir morgen machen.
Anne: Gute Idee. Und falls der Zug noch länger braucht, haben wir wenigstens was zu tun. So, jetzt steht da „Einfahrt verzögert sich“. Na dann, willkommen im Abenteuer Fernverkehr.
Frank: Na ja. Immerhin reisen wir zusammen. Mit jemandem allein wäre das hier deutlich anstrengender.

Translation
Frank: Hey, did you see the notice? Our ICE is already twenty minutes late again. And we’re not even on the platform yet. Typical Deutsche Bahn, right? I even left work early so we could travel in a relaxed way, and now this. Somehow this happens every single time we go to Berlin.
Anne: Yeah, I saw it. To be honest, I almost expected it. Without a delay it would actually be kind of creepy. At least this time they give a reason: “operational delays”. Sounds important, but probably just means chaos. Hopefully we’ll at least get a seat.
Frank: If not, we’ll just stand in the aisle. That’s basically tradition by now. The main thing is that we actually arrive today. I really don’t feel like getting stuck somewhere in Wolfsburg around midnight waiting for a connection.
Anne: Come on, it won’t be that bad. And if it is, we’ll grab a coffee in the onboard bistro and make the best of it. Getting upset doesn’t help anyway. And at least a free weekend in Berlin is waiting for us.
Frank: That’s true. And honestly, I’ve developed a certain calm about it. This would have totally annoyed me in the past, but now I just think: okay, that’s how it goes. Maybe we should use the time and start planning what we want to do tomorrow.
Anne: Good idea. And if the train takes even longer, at least we’ll have something to do. So, now it says “arrival delayed”. Well then, welcome to the adventure of long-distance travel.
Frank: Well. At least we’re traveling together. Doing this alone would be a lot more exhausting.
